La cerimonia dei Grammy Awards si è svolta, a Los Angeles, nel ricordo di Whitney Huston, scomparsa prematuramente alla vigilia della consegna dei premi più ambiti del mondo della musica.

A trionfare è stata la candante britannica Adele, che si è portata a casa ben sei premi, cinque dei quali tra i più prestigiosi. Adele, che ha anche fatto il ritorno sulle scene dopo l’intervento alla gola, ha vinto i premi per: registrazione dell’anno, miglior album (“21″), miglior album pop, miglior interpretazione pop, miglior canzone e miglior video corto.

A dominare la scena di Los Angeles sono stati però anche i Foo Fighters, che hanno portato a casa ben 5 premi della categoria rock, anche grazie al loro successo “Walk”. “Questo è un album che abbiamo realizzato nel mio garage – ha commentato il cantante David Grohl, ex Nirvana – e sottolinea il valore dell’elemento umano nella musica”.

Nella categoria Rap, a farla da padrone è stato Kanye West. Sono stati premiati anche Jay-Z, Chris Brown (miglior album R&B con F.A.M.E.) e Lady Antebellum (miglior album country con Own the night).

Taylor Swift con la canzone Mean si è aggiudicata due premi. Nella categoria dance-elettronica a trionfare è stato DJ Skrillex. Il volto nuovo dell’anno è stato invece Bon Iver.
